Dub a many-episode series without characters changing voice
A Chinese short drama can run 60 to 100 episodes. DubLocal Studio remembers the whole cast: it listens to a new episode, recognises people from other episodes and fills in their names and voices. You only check and apply.

How to dub a series in 4 steps
- 01
Group the episodes
In the project manager, select the episodes and click Group into a series. A series downloaded whole from a link is already grouped.
- 02
Finish one episode
Cast the characters and pick their voices as usual. Studio learns the voices from episodes that already have them; there is nothing to save.
- 03
Recognise characters in a new episode
In the Script step of another episode, click Series, then Recognise characters from other episodes. Each character shows how close the match is: Certain, Possible or New.
- 04
Check and apply
Hear a line of the character, change the person if Studio got it wrong, then click Apply to this episode: names and voices are filled in.
What Studio remembers about a series
Each series has its own cast, kept on your PC. One series never mixes with another.
- Each character's name, gender, voice and reading speed.
- The character's voiceprint, to recognise them in later episodes. Someone who says very little (under 3 seconds) is not compared.
- Names earlier episodes used: translations of later episodes keep those spellings. A wrong name can be dropped.
Works with automatic casting and whole-series runs
When you cast an episode automatically or run the whole series in order, Studio fills in the characters it is certain of. Voices you picked yourself stay; uncertain matches wait for you in the Series window.
Changing one episode leaves the others alone
Changing a voice or a name in one episode changes only that episode. Studio asks whether to Use for later episodes or Follow the series. Episodes already exported don't change.

Frequently asked questions
How does Studio recognise characters?
With the CAM++ voice model, on your PC: it takes each character's clearest lines, makes a voiceprint and compares it with the series' cast. The audio goes nowhere.
Do I need a graphics card?
No. Voice recognition runs on the CPU. The first time, if the model isn't on your PC yet, Studio downloads about 28 MB.
Does it work for voice-over or subtitles only?
Recognising characters and assigning voices is for character dubbing. The names already used go into the translations of every episode in the series.
What if Studio gets a character wrong?
Only characters at Certain are filled in automatically, and never over a voice you picked yourself. In the Series window, hear a line and choose the right character.
